Do you know what excites me?

THIS!!

I am a rabid J. Crew fan. Even if my wallet cannot always support the habit, I am dually devoted. I have been stalking their dress selection for bridesmaid since I was pre-engaged and their extensive opportunities for stylizing should never be over looked. I cannot wait to schedule an appointment to see the bridesmaid dresses in person. I hope they are as gorgeous as they look online. We will also have so much fun with accessories! And suits! And shoes! Oh, my!

While I know a lot of ladies are waiting for the Anthropologie bridal boutique to open its doors, this has been such a long time coming for me! Sometimes I look at J Crew catalogs and say, "Yes. That makes sense." It would be my dream job to work as a merchandiser for le Crew (I mean...if I didn't already have my dream job as merchandiser for a Museum) and I would consider it a blessing if I could just have a smidgen of the talent their stylists have. Lime green jell-o, girls.

That's not even the full spectrum of the greatness of this launch. I feel like it could totally revolutionize the wedding industry. I'm sure Anthropologie wouldn't have jumped on the bandwagon had J. Crew not had success. In reality, it's simplifying a lot, bringing down costs and making things more accessible to a wide range of brides and bridesmaids. The economics of wedding attire could see a mighty, mighty shift.

I was going to play a game of: let's find my favorite things on JCrew.com but, MY PROOFING DISC JUST GOT DROPPED OFF!!

It's launching in Spring 2011. I can't wait to see it! UO corp is playing it smart the way J Crew did. They're starting with an online wedding shop and pending on its success, it will be introduced into select stores. One thing they trumped J Crew on is that Anrtho brides will be able to reach out and schedule local fittings.

I'm interested in seeing if Anthropologie will offer the same convenience for Bridesmaid shopping. I can't envision them offering the: "Pick a fabric and color, you'll have a plethora to chose from!" it seems to run counter intuitive to their whimsical, hand made, one-of-a-kind brand identity. They may prove me wrong, though.

One of the large complaints for brides shopping J Crew wedding dresses was that they would have to actually purchase the dress, if it didn't fit they would have to return or exchange it all via mail. Depending on how much your dress is, this was annoying at best. (ie: you're shopping for a BM dress) However, it's a deterrant for women prepped to drop $2K on a wedding dress - if you're spending that much money do you really want to handle the sale by mail? I'm not 100% but I think Crew is working something out to help with dress sales, and it's not even like their dress sales haven't been successful!

I'm so intrigued. I can't wait to see a true to life comparison on the two. It will be very interesting because so far the retail price range on both wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses are identical.
